Laurent Bordes elected for a second term as President of the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour

On Thursday 17 April 2025, the new Board of Directors elected Laurent Bordes to a second 4-year term as President of the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour.
Aged 57, Laurent Bordes, the outgoing president and candidate on the ‘UPPA 2028: succeeding together’ list, was elected in the 1st round of voting by the staff representatives, student representatives and outside figures who make up the university's new Board of Directors:
- 18 votes for Laurent Bordes ;
- 11 votes for Stéphanie Dechézelles ;
- and 3 blank votes.

Laurent Bordes, professor of applied mathematics
Laurent Bordes began his career as a teacher-researcher at the Université Technologique de Compiègne after obtaining a doctorate in mathematics from the Université Bordeaux 1. He was recruited as a professor at UPPA in 2006 and became director of the Pau applied mathematics laboratory in 2008. Laurent Bordes was elected vice-president for research from 2012 to 2016 and then vice-president for digital issues from 2016 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020, he was Director of the STEE College, Science and Technology for Energy and the Environment, until his first election as President of the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour on 1 January 2021.
