InpAkta: Journal of Research for Social ImpactResearchers from the IKER laboratory take part in it.
InpAkta : Inpaktu Sozialerako Ikerlanen Akta – Journal of Research for Social Impact is a multidisciplinary and free accessed review including articles written in both the English and the Basque languages. Its vocation is to cover all the knowledge fields, and it was created to publish high-quality research-works that have an impact on society. This journal thus fits in with the Science with and for society’s mindset (SAPS*).
The journal is supported by 22 academic and scientific institutions of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Euskadi Navarre Euroregion, among which the University of Pau and the Adour Lands.
It receives research-works from all the fields, and is based on proof, to be used as a connection between society and research worlds (provided that they can have a social impact on our territory or on our society, on a larger scale.)
The inaugural issue of the InpAkta journal
The issue 0 was presented in December 2023 at the Durango’s fair, an unmissable annual meeting of Basque’s culture.
It contains 20 scientific articles, each one accompanied by a popularized summary. This summary, devised in collaboration with the Elhuyar foundation, is meant for a wider audience or non-academic actors. It was published in the three official languages of our territory (French, English and Basque) and is available in both the print edition and in the journal’s website.
For the upcoming 1st issue: the call for input is opened
InpAkta just launched a call for contributions. Works from all fields of knowledge may be submitted until 2025, provided that researchers have a social impact. That means they must add a contribution, or have potential to bring one to the society, to the culture, to the environment or to the economy, in response to the stakes of our territory.
The research-works must be submitted in Basque or in English languages and will be investigated within the scope of an evaluation by the colleagues. As it is customary to do, each article will be revised by at least two researchers who are experts in the specific field of the study.
The journal already has an editorial board composed of 50 professionals who will head this process.
InpAkta is a nonprofit publication project. Moreover, an open access will be offered for all the journal’s content, and no fees will be charged for the articles’ processing or submission. The authors will still have their copyrights and will agree to the journal’s right of first publication under a Creative Commons licence.
The directives for the authors are available online on the journal’s website.
