International Relations - Exchanges are a Priority
Facing the Atlantic Ocean and situated near the Spanish border, the University has a particular vocation to develop its relationship with the rest of the world.
Each year, it welcomes 1400 foreign students, 12% of whom are European, mainly from Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Portugal and Ireland.
The second half of the students welcomed, come from all over the world : Africa (Morocco, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Cameroon), North America (United-States and Canada), South America, Asia (China and Japan).
Within its task of opening up on the international scale, the University co-ordinates 196 Erasmus bilateral exchanges and has signed 75 inter-university co-operation agreements. This activity is reinforced by the conducting of international research and research training programmes such as, in particular, European contracts or joint trusteeships of theses.
